When should you think about branding your business?

I’ve often seen new entrepreneurs saying that they don’t have time to consider branding their business. They don’t see the value in it, or don’t want to invest in it, or don’t think that it’s necessary.

Eek!

Here’s the cold, hard truth: if you haven’t begun branding your business, you need to start immediately.

Especially when you are starting up a new business, having stellar branding can give your new biz the oomph it needs to start off with a bang. But if you already have an established business, don’t worry! It’s definitely not too late for you, either.

Ready to read why you need to consider branding your business as soon as possible? Let’s go!

Branding Helps You Stand Out

We’ve all heard the phrase Don’t judge a book by its cover, right? But we totally still do!

Having a strong visual brand will make your ideal client stop in their tracks (or their scroll, in 2021 terms!) and take notice of you. If your branding is aimed at attracting those specific ideal clients, you will attract them and they will come. It’s a fact.

Having strong visual branding right from the start can ensure that you are reaching and attracting your ideal audience, instead of just hoping that they land on your website and are charmed by your content.

That’s right – having a beautiful visual brand can help your ideal client find you, not just the other way around! Sounds like a win/win, right?

Branding Makes You Dig Deeper

Beyond just having the visual branding taken care of, working with a brand strategist will ensure that you are reaching into the deeper levels of what you want your business to look like.

Things like – Who is your ideal client? Why do you want to work with them? What can your offer them? How does your business stand out from your competitors? Why should your audience trust you?

These questions are paramount in building a solid foundation for your new business! And, as a bonus, your strategist will take all of those little puzzle pieces and put them together to make up your business’ visual branding.

Branding Can Give You Confidence

If you’re anything like me, confidence comes from knowing that you are putting your best foot forward.

Here’s an anecdote for you – I really struggled with calling myself a brand designer until I changed my own logo and branding a few months back! I just didn’t have the confidence to market myself in a certain way because I didn’t think that my branding conveyed the right image for my newly pivoted business. (You can read about my own brand redesign here!)

Having a new logo and refreshed brand colors gave me so much confidence that I was able to begin marketing myself to my ideal audience and begin booking design clients!

Branding Can Help You Scale

If you’ve ever wanted to work with a web designer to scale your web presence, you’ll almost definitely need to be able to supply them with things like brand colors, fonts, and logos. Those are essential in the site building process, and having them already established will make the process much smoother for all parties involved.

Branding Builds The Know/Like/Trust Factor

Your audience loves knowing what to expect from you every time you show up on their feeds. Having a consistent visual brand helps your audience begin to know, like, and trust you (and your brand by proxy). That’s not to say that they are distrustful of you by nature, but the more they feel that they know you, the more likely they are to trust you by taking the next step, whether it be booking you for a service, joining your email list, or even just clicking “follow” on Instagram.

And there you have it! Hopefully now you see the importance of branding and why it’s essential to begin right off the bat.
